How to Care for Natural Stone Furniture
Care starts with knowing the exact surface on your furniture. Marble, travertine, other natural stones and stone-look finishes can require different treatment. Keep the product’s finish instructions and check them before using a new cleaner.
Everyday care
Remove loose dust with a clean soft cloth. Protect the surface from drinks, hot cookware and objects that could scratch it. Lift decorative objects when moving them across the tabletop. Attend to spills promptly rather than allowing liquid to remain on the surface.
Choose cleaning products carefully
For marble and travertine, avoid vinegar, lemon-based cleaners and abrasive cleaning pads. Use a suitable neutral stone cleaner according to its instructions, and dry the surface after cleaning. If the product has a special coating, follow the instructions for that coating first.
Understand the protective finish
A sealer can reduce absorption, but it is not a guarantee against staining or surface etching. Do not apply a new sealer, polish, oil or repair product until its compatibility with the supplied finish has been confirmed. Resealing schedules depend on the stone, treatment and use; there is no single timetable for every table.
Ask before treating a mark
If a stain or dull patch appears, photograph it and note what contacted the surface. Contact VAEN with the product name and selected finish before trying an aggressive treatment. A mark that looks like a stain may require a different approach.
Choose the right material for your routine
Read our marble and travertine comparison and stone and marble guide. When comparing coffee tables or dining tables, review the precise material, construction and care requirements.
